Electronic Media Intern

This intern will work closely with the Campaign Organizer to develop and broaden Dogwood Alliance’s presence on the web as well as with other forms of electronic media. Intern will create and edit videos for use on our website and blog, maintain our Twitter, Facebook, and other social media website presence, as well as other duties related to electronic media.

Outreach Intern

Dogwood Alliance seeks to transform the paper industry by building the market demand for high content post consumer recycled paper products. The outreach will work to reach the public and environmental advocates through tabling, meetings and other forms of grassroots communication. Responsibilities include developing, refining and distributing campaign outreach materials; representing Dogwood Alliance by tabling and conducting presentations at festivals, events and schools and identifying events for tabling and speaking.

Membership Assistant

Our membership is vital to the success of our organization. This is on ongoing project that requires a steady stream of interns and volunteers. Assistance is needed with maintaining our database, processing donations, corresponding with our membership, and filling merchandise orders. A regular schedule of a 1/2 day or a full day a week works best for this position. Duration of position is flexible.

Non-profit Management

The management intern will work directly with the Associate Director to ensure smooth and effective office operations. The entire staff of any non-profit, regardless of the mission, relies on this support on a day-to-day basis to be effective and functional. The projects will be related to financial management, human resources, office management and information technology. The day to day tasks widely and can include: using excel spreadsheets to help manage the budget, assisting with the filing of the tax return and completion of the audit, the annual renewal of state solicitation licenses, research for employee benefit packages, stocking and making purchases of office supplies, coordinating meals for board meetings. Training will be provided to learn the ins and outs of non-profit management.

Media Assistant

The media and communications volunteer or intern will work closely with the media and communications director and the campaign organizer to generate media and online activist support to help support the protection of Southern forests. Responsibilities would include developing and updating media contacts, organizing earned media stories, developing relationships with media contacts, training student groups and communities to improve their media work, researching media stories on the web, assistance in the design of a media and marketing kits, and assistance in the development of a public relations program.

Research Intern

The research intern will work closely with the Campaign Director and Director of Corporate Engagement at Dogwood Alliance to gain a more comprehensive understanding of industrial forestry practices and other market based issues to promote sustainable forestry practices, mitigate global climate change, and transform the marketplace of paper products. Specific research projects will be tailored to meet the interests of both the intern and the organization.
