Last week-en a small group of people with a passion for positive change and a love of riding bikes in beautiful places came together in beautiful Western
NC. Together we raised money for Dogwood Alliance and awareness
about our
magnificent Southern forests.
The riders were inspiring! They rode almost 80 miles with some very
challenging ascents up to the Blue
Ridge Parkway.
They also challenged themselves to raise money from their own network of
friends and family and all the money went to support Dogwood Alliance!
Exuberant thanks to our fantastic
volunteers – Seth and Kelly
Collings-Hawkens, Bud Howell, Shawna Gilmore along with Amy and Allison from
the Cathedral of All Soul’s youth group, Keith Wells, Helene and Richard Wineberg
and Bobby Miller!
Heartfelt appreciation as well to
our good friends, Joel Schantz and Coleman Barry
of Tree Huggin’ Treats who
donated Crispy Cats candy bars
and dear Clive Adams of Ancient Sun who donated Wild Bars so our riders could have
lots of energy! Our friend, Scott Reese, of Halcyon Printing , provided souvenir t-shirts for the riders to wear with pride!
Extra gushing gratitude to the
folks who sponsored riders with personal donations all of which will go to
support Dogwood Alliance’s efforts to protect Southern forests!
This small group has set the stage
for what we expect to be an extraordinary event in 2008. Planning has already begun for next year so
