Musique Automatique--the Green Side of Things PDF Print E-mail

Adam This previous weekend on July 11, 2008 Dogwood Alliance had the privilege of tabling at the Musique Automatique Festival in West Asheville. We were able to enjoy music, live art, and food. While we were getting signatures for the No Free Refills campaign and informing outdoor enthusiasts of our Southern Forest Challenge, we were also asking the musicians to play and active role in Greening the music industry. Included are a few pictures from the evening.

We at Dogwood Alliance desire to partner with those in the music industry to help them reduce their impact on our beautiful Southern Forests by using recycled fibers in their packaging, reducing their packaging when its an option, as well as using minimal plastic and plastic free packaging with soy-based inks and water based coatings.

While music is a $40 billion industry, packaging alone is a $124 billion industry!  Dogwood Alliance feels that these two industrial giants should together set a high bar when it comes to protecting the Environment.

In addition, artists and recording studios can offset their carbon emissions by purchasing renewable energy credits – which fund wind and solar – from companies like Green Mountain Energy and TerraPass.

Why stop there, though? Why not give a percentage of your sales to an environmental charity? Visit Once Percent for the Planet to find out who gives back and how you can too.
