So for the next five days, the Dogwood Alliance crew is in Manchester, TN hanging out at Bonnaroo.
We are hard at work to protect the majestic forests of the South and
are so excited to be able to share that message with the throngs of
people here live from our table in Planetroo.

Our packaging
campaign is in full swing, and folks within the music industry are
starting to open up to the possibilities of a truly green footprint
with their packaging. We have compiled a list of sustainable music
packaging producers that we will post next week when we are back in
Asheville.

We are here working to get people to take our
packaging pledge and asking music industry leaders like Sony BMI and
Universal Music Group to make a commitment to sustainable packaging.
When you buy your favorite bands latest cd, it doesn't seem like much,
but think about the millions of cds sold every year and the impact that
has on our forests – that is a real scratch on the music industry's
record.

In addition to petitions we are doing photo petitions
and already hundred of people have posed for the camera to signify
their love for endangered Southern forests. Check out my albums for a
few examples.

We are also doing video interviews that you can
view from the in the news section on our homepage as soon as we have
the editing finished and a strong enough internet connection to make
the upload less than an hour.

Music update – right now I am blogging in Planetroo and Mute Math
is playing in the background. To give you a snapshot of the diversity,
as the bands play on, my friend Patrick Ironwood from Moonshadow and
the Sequatchie Valley Institute
(one of the founding member groups of Dogwood Alliance) is doing a
guided meditation on the Solar Stage. Brent and I are manning the
table and our interns are over checking out Apollo Sunshine and Eva and Trevon are off checking out Rodrigo y Gabriela. Earlier, one of my favorite bands, the Black Angels
from Austin, TX kicked off the festival with an amazing set that I was
able to listen to from Planetroo. In the interim I had a great
conversation with Dan Favre from Gulf Restoration Network about online organizing and a great chat with an amazing couple from Baltimore that are big fans of Save the Bay.

This is our Bonnaroo and this is your Bonnaroo too!

See you tomorrow…
