REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS – FOREST DEFENDERS LOGO DEVELOPMENT
Dogwood Alliance is currently developing a monthly giving program (Forest Defenders) that additionally encourages deeper engagement and activism among its members. Forest Defenders are signing up to stand up for the forests and communities of the South as well as the future of our planet. They are doing so by choosing to align themselves with an organization that has already achieved great victories. They should feel like they are joining a powerful and exclusive circle of heroes. Because that’s exactly what they are doing. We need an emblem that belongs to our tightest circle of followers—our Forest Defenders— that also reflects our brand . Here’s an early example of what that might look like. It takes inspiration from superhero badges and also the shields carried by rangers, sheriffs and other servants with a code:
This design is intended as a working concept only. The Forest Defenders logo would be in Dogwood colors, and any tree imagery would be appropriate to our mission (trees must be found in the Southeastern United States and must NOT be reminiscent of pine trees or pine plantations, as the above example is).
Based in the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina, Dogwood Alliance stands for the forests and people of the South. Home to 1,000 year old trees, majestic black bears, rare alligators and countless other treasures, these forests are among the most biodiverse ecosystems on the planet. Southern Forests are also a source of clean water and air for millions of Americans. And—in an age of climate change—they also happen to be central to our survival as a species. Dogwood Alliance mobilizes local, national and international networks to take action against forest destruction and also works collaboratively with industry leaders to put innovative business solutions to work that result in more protected Southern forests.
We have convinced some of the world’s largest corporations (Staples, McDonald’s, KFC, Georgia-Pacific, etc.) to transform their environmental practices and take action to improve forest conservation in the South, across the nation and around the world. We’ve increased protection for millions of acres of Southern forests, and we’re just getting started…
