International Paper Increases Commitment to Funding Forest Conservation

Dogwood Alliance has been working for years to support some of this country’s largest paper and wood producers to improve their forestry practices and support conservation efforts. International Paper, the largest paper company in the South and the World, is one of the companies that we work closely with and are proud to see their leadership and commitment to funding forest conservation.

Forest Friday: The Inspiring Nicole

Nicole is one of the hardest working people I have ever met. She works a full-time position at Dogwood Alliance and then volunteers an additional 30 hours in her “free” time. Nicole is on the 100 Days Coalition and also belongs to the NC Black Lives Matter cohort. She is also on the board of Green Opportunities and Bountiful Cities and a part of Kresge Freshlo. This points to the fact that all of Nicole’s work is about enriching her community by meeting people where they’re at to help them achieve their highest goals.

Forest Friday: Me and Ali McGhee

I was so excited to have Ali McGhee with me for Forest Friday. Not only is Ali the Director of the Asheville Grit and worked with us to make Dogwood Alliance’s 20 year anniversary the incredible storytelling festival of our dreams, but Ali is also a true Asheville native and was born and raised here. She has always had a deep connection to the land in these parts.

The Future of Our Forests: An Interview with Jim Furnish

Recently, Dogwood Alliance, Defenders of Wildlife and MountainTrue hosted an event at The Collider in Asheville on the future of our forests. We were so lucky to have Jim Furnish join us for that event. Jim Furnish is the author of Beyond Logging: Toward a Natural Forest a memoir of Jim’s time working for the National Forest Service and time spent as Deputy Chief.
