Thanks you for your interest in Dogwood Alliance!

Our work would not be possible without the help of countless volunteers in our home office and around the region.   Please contact us if you are interested in volunteering or interning with us!  We request that interns maintain a regular weekly schedule and commit to at least 4 hours per week. Dogwood Alliance will provide the needed training and resources, such as phone and computer, to complete the internship objectives. We will also provide an internship evaluation for hours completed as part of an academic program.

Membership Assistant

Our membership is vital to the success of our organization. This is on ongoing project that requires a steady stream of interns and volunteers. Assistance is needed with maintaining our database, processing donations, corresponding with our membership, and filling merchandise orders. A regular schedule of a 1/2 day or a full day a week works best for this position. Duration of position is flexible.

Administrative Assistant

Dogwood Alliance seeks individuals to help insure smooth and effective office operations. Administrative volunteers help with data entry, proofreading, the production of our newsletter, and bulk mailings, coordinate fundraising events, and assist with daily office duties.

Outreach Intern

Dogwood Alliance seeks to transform the paper industry by building the market demand for high content post consumer recycled paper products. The Paper Campaign Intern will work to reach the public and environmental advocates through tabling, meetings and literature. Responsibilities include developing, refining and distributing campaign outreach materials; representing Dogwood Alliance by tabling at festivals, events and schools and identifying events for tabling and speaking.

Research Intern

This intern will work closely with the National Organizer to reduce the pressure on southern forests for the production of disposable paper products by developing a deeper knowledge base about the recycling market in the South. This type of information deepens our understanding of the challenges on the supply end of transforming the paper market to relieve pressure on southern forests. Responsibilities include conducting research on the recycling industry, availability of raw material (i.e. waste paper) in the region, and documenting paper mills in the region.
