US South is Still the Leading Region for Pulp and Paper

Georgia Tech’s Center for Paper Business and Industry Studies has recently released their enhanced Paper Mills Online Database. The data once again shows the US South is by far heart of the US industry.

Specifically, the South is home to:

  • 61% of total pulp and paper product capacity
  • 51% of national pulp and paper mill employment
  • nearly 60% of all pulping capacity
  • nearly 40% of all pulp and paper mills
Pulping capacities in the South far outpace those of other regions
