Thank you for urging Governor Cooper to be a climate champion.

You make a difference!

So far our coalition has sent thousands of postcards to Governor Cooper.

Join us and send your “Postcard from Polluted Places” today by following a few easy steps:

  1. Download the printable file by clicking here.
  2. Make sure you have the right paper. This file is designed to be printed, double-sided on Avery 8386 or Avery 5889 paper. But you can also print it on any heavy stock 8.5″ x 11″ paper. USPS says postcards must be between 0.007″ and 0.016″ thick.
  3. Print your postcard using the double-sided settings. Use recycled paper or FSC certified paper when possible.
  4. Personalize your message to Governor Cooper on the back. See below for some ideas.
  5. Include your name and address on the appropriate lines.
  6. Add postage. In the US a standard postcard stamp costs $0.40. Check USPS for international postage requirements.
  7. Put your postcard in the mail.
  8. Feel great for helping to stop deforestation and community injustice in North Carolina!

Print as many or as few postcards as you like. Host a postcard writing party with your friends, family, and other social networks. If you’d like to have 50 or more postcards, please contact Emily Zucchino, and she can arrange to have some mailed to you.

Ideas of what to say in your message to Governor Cooper:

  • Stop the wood pellet industry from expanding in North Carolina.
  • End subsidies to the wood pellet industry. Reinvest in community health, green jobs, and clean energy!
  • The wood pellet industry cuts 164 acres of NC forests every day. Don’t let deforestation be your legacy.
  • All of the wood pellet facilities in NC are located in environmental justice communities. Don’t let environmental injustice be your legacy.
  • End sacrifice zones. Implement policies that account for and measure cumulative impacts when permitting new pollution sources.
  • Forests are our best solution to face the climate crisis.
  • Logging is driving climate change, biodiversity loss, and extreme flooding.
  • NC is the largest exporter of wood pellets in the nation. This industry is making the climate crisis worse.

Thank you again for being a climate justice champion!
